Hi,
A great rotator. HOWEVER . . . it does not seem to work in IE 8.0 but works perfectly in Firefox, Chrome & Opera. HELP PLEASE!!!

JAVASCRIPT NOT SENSING BROWSER TYPE WHEN PASSING INFORMATION FROM DATABASE
The issue seems to be that the FlashImageRotator (or perhaps the swfobject.js) is not correctly identifying an IE browser when it has data to pass to the flash object. It is OK when there is only default data but not OK otherwise. The code in 1 & 2 shows the HTML source from IE with an unconfigured FIR and from a configured FIR. This configured FIR html code seems identical with the code sent to FireFox - which won't actually load the flash file in IE.

1. Source from IE with unconfigured FlashImageRotator (it uses the Active X Flash Control)

FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE FAULT
1. If you insert a FlashImageRotator module into a page and DO NOT CONFIGURE IT AT ALL . . . it displays in IE OK;
2. If you open the Edit ImageRotator Options but "Cancel" your changes . . . it continues to display in IE OK;
3 If you open the Edit ImageRotator Options commit your changes . . . it no longer displays in IE;

When refreshing a page in IE with the FlashImageRotator module on it in IE, the Flash "Loading Animation" sometimes appears and then disappears. This is intermittent behaviour - sometimes the "Loading Animation" does not appear.

Attaching an audio file to the module to test if the swf is actually playing in IE but it is a Z Order issue (i.e. it is playing but hidden by an upper layer). RESULT - in IE the audio does NOT play. In other browsers all is OK.

DATABASE
I checked the database table for "dbo.M2Land_FlashImageRotator" and there are a number of rows (currently 6 even though I only have 2 instances of the module on the site). When I update the configuration of the module, all the rows in the database tables are updated with the same data!! Is this expected behaviour? I wonder why there are so many rows in the table?

I note you have the impact of this issue down as Low in your Work Item Details.

Not working in IE 8 has a huge impact on 80%+ of the browsers out there - i.e. it does not show up at all so all we see is empty space. That's a pretty big issue on the most popular browser on the market. If you think it may be something I have confirgured wrongly, can you give me some suggestions on how I might fix it.

But if no one wants to deal with this particular issue that's also fine . . . just say so and we can all move on to commercial products that do work in the world's most popular browser. Pity though. Because apart from what seems to be one browser specific issue , you have a great module.

Hi ,

as per the Default Site settings I have put my FIR (Flash Image Rotator)

i am giving ImagePath as

<track>
<title>Web2Print</title>
<creator>Tarak</creator>
<location>/Images_/p1_09484715200811.jpg</location>

</track>

http://localhost/dotnetnuke/Home.aspx

and that is working fine,,

but once i have installed another language and i am using the

same page url gets converted to (something like given below...)

http://localhost/dotnetnuke/Home/tabid/39/language/en-US/Default.aspx

and it do not work....

Is there any workaround for the same???

Do i always need to set the Full IMAGE URL like http://localhost/Dotnetnuke/Images/Image1.jpg ....

Additionally, after testing it on Safari I encountered a minor problem as well. The FIR module loads up perfect and displays the images correctly. However, if you click on the FIR the rotator just goes white and then freezes instead of loading the next image. I can only assume this error stems from JW's coding in the flash player.

The last issue I noticed comes from the logo field of FIR. It appears that instead of the Base URL appearing as the default, "AboutDNN" logo's url remains as the Default Site URL when you try to change the logo. That is, when you enter a file from the current site to appears as the logo on the top right of the FIR player, lets say "NEWLOGO.png", the player calls "http://www.aboutDNN.com/Portals/0/aboutDNNlogo.gif/images/NEWLOGO.png" instead of the player calling for the correct url of the image, i.e. "www.ThisSite.com/images/NEWLOGO.png". I noticed the error via the activity window in Safari.

Unfortunately, I have ran into a problem while testing the site on the headache browser Explorer. For some reason the flash player does not load. In fact after looking at the source code for the page, the module doesn't send any HTML to the Explorer browser. You can check out this page (http://www.g-rockhandcovers.com/transtar/Services/Corporate/tabid/75/Default.aspx) for an example. The FIR should appear under "Corporate Images" title on the right content plane but does not.
